My flight was in the evening, so I had time for some final things in Keflavík.
It was rainy, as is typical for Iceland, so I put on rain gear to go out. That
worked well except my shoes got soaked. I set out to see what The Giantess in
the Mountain was. Along the way was Lava Sweets, a pastry shop that was supposed
to have some chocolate, but it was a disappointment. They seemed barely ready to
serve pastry (nothing on display, order from a menu, uninviting atmosphere). The
Giantess you can see in pictures below. It is a kids’ attraction, purportedly a
giant woman living in a cave on the shore.
I spent the rest of the morning walking to two pastry shops on opposite sides
of town, one typical neighborhood shop and one fancy. I finished at a souvenir
shop across the street from a hotel where I made some good finds to finish my
trip. Then I went back to the hotel to dry off and wait for my ride to the
airport.
